GeoScan 2361
Side Scan Sonar
New generation Side Scan Sonar operating at 300 kHz & 600 kHz
Simultaneous dual frequency operations
Capture complementary datasets in one pass, improving efficiency and reducing survey downtime.
60 kHz update time
Maintain consistent data density, supporting reliable interpretation at survey speeds.
CW & Chirp pulses
Operator-selectable pulse types allow optimisation for target detection or seabed detail as required.
No near-field blurring
Sharp imagery close to the towfish improves confidence in target identification and classification.
Superior terrain visualisation
Enhanced seabed contrast reveals subtle features, supporting more accurate interpretation and reporting.
Configured for long range
Extended range capability supports efficient wide-area coverage with fewer survey lines required.
Advanced towfish system for target detection and seabed classification
GeoScan 2361 is a broadband dual-frequency side scan sonar delivering detailed seabed imagery across a wide range of survey applications.
Designed to operate at 300 kHz and 600 kHz simultaneously, it combines long-range coverage with fine-resolution imaging, supporting high-confidence interpretation in a single pass.
With its compact form factor and integrated motion sensors, GeoScan 2361 is easy to deploy and suitable for use on small boats or as part of a broader offshore survey spread. It is engineered to support tasks ranging from underwater infrastructure inspection and emergency response to marine archaeology and environmental monitoring.
GeoScan 2361 connects via a compact sonar interface module and comes with a 50-metre tow cable as standard, with an optional 200-metre extension. This enables flexible integration across vessel types, from inshore craft to offshore platforms.
Supplied with GeoScan control and visualisation software, the system enables real-time data acquisition, storage, and review. Output in industry-standard XTF format ensures smooth integration with third-party hydrographic and geophysical software environments.
Integrated motion sensing for consistent data quality
An embedded pitch, roll, and heading sensor combined with a pressure sensor provides accurate platform orientation and depth data. This stabilisation ensures reliable image alignment and spatial referencing, even in dynamic underwater conditions.
Clarity at longer ranges
GeoScan 2361 captures high-definition side scan imagery using both 300 kHz and 600 kHz channels simultaneously. This configuration supports long-range detection with refined near-field detail, ensuring efficient survey coverage without compromising on image resolution.
Enhanced resolution for precise feature detection
Employing pulse compression and variable aperture focusing, GeoScan 2361 improves resolution across the swath. These technologies allow precise feature identification both close to the towfish and at the outer limits of range, minimising distortion and enhancing contrast throughout.
Rugged, robust, and ready to run
GeoScan 2361 combines dual-frequency broadband imaging with compact design and onboard motion sensors, enabling precise, high-contrast seabed mapping in a wide range of survey scenarios
Compact and lightweight for easy launch and recovery
The towfish is compact and lightweight, with a rugged hydrodynamic design rated for depths down to 300 metres. Its 100 mm diameter and 1.2 metre length make it easy to handle, while its streamlined form delivers stable performance in varied sea states.
